Luciandjoe Bookbinding
Luciandjoe bookbinding produces books which upcycle discarded – but beautiful – hardcover books to create a new and unique product. Each of these books contains the character and qualities of the original cover, some pages and features (including a library check-in card in one). They have then added new paper, embellishments and bindings to create these one-of-a-kind products.
There is a mix of traditional bookbinding techniques in luciandjoe’s products, as well as some more unique binding and approaches. Please don’t ask them to restore your treasured old book though, it’s not that kind of bookbinding business!
Luciandjoe is born and bred in the coastal city of Portland, which is down in the far south-west corner of Victoria. It is a visually stunning area of our country, and whilst it is geographically difficult in terms of travel distance to Melbourne and major cities, it is an area rich in inspiration and artistic opportunities.
Luciandjoe has been in operation for three years and regularly participates in makers markets in in the region, as well as selling in a local bookstore and their Etsy store.
They also have a range of journals and albums which are fully handmade using fabrics, papers and paper products collected over years of paper-obsessed searching. To complement these books, you’ll find cards and envelopes also made using new products and upcycled book pages. In the etsy store, you’ll also find a range of custom made products.
